Don’t worry. You aren’t going to get addicted to nicotine from smoking hookah or get addicted to hookah. Maybe if you did it all day for like a week you would. Just like the first cigarette you smoke probably won’t get you addicted to nicotine, but they tell you it will when you’re little. After smoking once or a few times, no side effects but perhaps a cough or two while smoking. Don’t worry so much!

No, it’s no where NEAR as bad as smoking a cig. And, you’re not going to get addicted. guaranteed. i’ve smoked up to 4 times a week and i haven’t gotten in any cravings. in fact, i haven’t smoked in about 2 whole weeks and i do not, nor will i ever, feel any symptoms of addiction. the percentage of nicotine compared to cigs are incredibly miniscule.

hookah really doesnt do that much to you because you dont inhale (im not saying it doesnt cause what smoking a cigerate does) but your best bet is to just stop let your lungs get healthy again.. smoking isnt a good thing to do it causes so many problems… so if you want to reverse the effects just stop smoking hookah and you will be fine!

Just kidding.
Stopping now and exercising well, proper foods, no junk, sodas, canned foods. eat more organic and fresh foods you can sort of balance out the effects. Not knowing your present condition one cant tell the extent of the damage but, your lungs would be the first thing to pay attention to.
See your doctor, they’ll have a pretty good routine to balance not repair or reverse the effects.

OK hookah number one is not a drug. its kind of like smoking air. You can have different flavors and just sit and relax.So flavored air. But if you inhale it too fast it may make you cough. Its not like cigarettes. its got like .007 amount of tobacco and that’s if you smoke the whole hookah. I don’t remember if it burns i am pretty sure it doesnt. It’s not as harsh as weed and cigarettes. if you inhale to much at a time while continuously inhaling you may get light headed. like blowing up a balloon. But i like it. Especially when you turn off the lights and watch a movie. it can be relaxing i hope i helped you.

It depends on what type of tobacco you will be smoking. There is nicotine and non-nicotine with a large variety of flavors for both. If you don’t smoke cigarettes and you smoke nicotine sheesha (hookah tobacco), then you can most likely expect to get sick from it. You will get dizzy among other temporary symptoms that will probably take about 20 -30 minutes to recover from. Non-nicotine should not do this to you. It can burn if you are not used to it. The best way is to take it slow, possibly hold it in your mouth for a minute to savor the flavor until you get used to inhaling it. Adding ice to the inside of the hookah can make the smoke smoother to ease the “burning” sensation in the back of your throat. If you have problems with this, keeping a cold drink or some ice water close-by will be good idea.
As far as any drug tests go, whether it is nicotine or non-nicotine, it will not show up in any drug tests at all. If it were marijuana, however, it would show up in your urine as THC, the main component of marijuana. Marijuana can also be tested by a mouth swab and even through a strand of hair if you have smoked in the past 6 months. Of course, it does depend on the consumption of the drug. But since you have a hard time smoking it, this is just some extra information.

You don’t get high off of a normal hooka (when I say normal I mean a hooka that has “sheesha” in it). Sheesha is the sweet tobacco you buy along with it at any place that sells them.
If you put other substances in your hookah, that is a whole different story. If you put weed in your hookah, then of course it will get you high and it will burn just as much as any other joint you smoke. The sheesha that is sold with hookah is a molasses based one which makes it really smooth so it doesn’t burn (unless you don’t place the coal properly on top).
If you go for a drug test, they probably won’t test you for nicotine (the addictive compound found in tobacco) so you will be alright. Smoke weed out of it and it will show at the doctor’s office.
I will warn you about one thing, however. Do not listen to any morons who say hookah is safer than cigarettes so it is okay to smoke. The sheesha that is smoked from a hookah may have less carcinogens and additives than your good ol’ gas station cigarettes, but smoke is smoke and it kills lung tissue and causes many different types of problems down the road (not just cancer but asthma, emphysema, and so many other nasty respiratory problems). And the sheer volume of smoke that goes into your lungs after smoking a puff of hookah totally outweighs any “safe-alternative” type of excuse that tries to tell you the smoke is cleaner.
I read somewhere that sitting with your boys and having a 45-minute smoke session (which when you smoke hookah it usually lasts that long) can equal a pack of cigarettes going into your lungs.
Bottom line, hookah smoke is cleaner and less likely to burn your throat and lungs. For tobacco as well as weed smokers, it’s only a little safer because you are not burning the paper off your cigarette or joint and inhaling that as well. But smoke is smoke and it damages and causes all sorts of problems when inhaled.
Pick your poison.

Carve Hookah Bowls Out of Fruit
1. Find a circular or oval shaped fruit such as an apple, mango, orange, pear or something similar. Fruits with an oblong shape such as a banana or star fruit, could work but it will be difficult to carve into a bowl.
2. Cut the top of the fruit off and leave about 3/4 of the fruit left.
3. Dig into the fruit with a spoon or knife into a bowl until about 1/4 of the fruit is left intact in the top half of the fruit. (Leave the sides as thick as possible for better taste and a better burn).
4. Use either a filet knife or any sharp and thin object to force/cut a hole in the bottom.
5. Now, within the core of the fruit, poke many holes through the hole in the bottom using an ice pick to make the smoke holes. The more you make, the easier it’ll be to smoke.
6. Stick the fruit on the stem, pack the shisha and cover, and continue setting up your hookah as you normally do.

If you asking can you sneak in the answer is yes. Go there during a ‘rush hour’ or there busiest time of day. Usually weekend nights, and order like you know what your doing.

There is a new store called North Park Produce in Chula Vista. I didn’t even know about their hookahs and sheesha until I happened to go there for some groceries. The prices were extremely cheap and they had more flavors than i even knew existed. It is on east H St next to the kmart by the costco. Try making an “O” with your mouth and taking a few deep breaths, the same feeling will happen. With a hooka the smoke is starving your body/brain of the chemicals it needs and that gives you the same feeling.

Because you are smoking pure tobacco. Which means you get pure nicotine in your system. Cigarettes have added artificial nicotine and carcinogens that actually bound to natural nicotine so your body doesn’t absorb the natural nicotine but the artificial and carcinogens letting the natural pass through your system. This is much more deadly and dangerous than any other form of tobacco. With Hookah tobacco it’s straight from the field and no chemicals added. Your body isn’t use to it. I have been a hookah smoker for years and rarely get a buzz anymore unless i take a long break from smoking. You will build a tolerance just like you would with caffeine. Same thing.

Here’s the thing.
Anything you add to the base in hookah is fine. But you always need to keep the majority Water.
If you put solid vodka in your base, your lungs will be so shot, it will hurt to breathe. Speaking from personal experience here.
I do add Vodka from time to time but no more than 3 shots in the base. You will get buzzed for sure. But no matter what you add keep it under 8 ounces in a normal Large Based Hookah like the Khalil Mamoon Pharonie http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-5098-khal…

the last thing that you want to have found in your possession is a ‘used’ hookah. it will be like inviting a complete search, and a bad trip.

Paraphernalia is not illegal in Mexico, drugs are (though you are now allowed to carry some… i believe it is 1/4 of an ounce… though dont trust me on the quantity).
If you get into trouble it would be because you might attract attention and the customs officers or army at checkpoints could believe you might be carrying more, as long as you are not, you are safe.

yes it is ok, the artifact itself isn’t ilegal, they sell it in many stores here in Mexico City, there are even specialised stores, with many boxes of flavored tobacco, BUT if you use it for you know what, you’d better not bring it, there are many check points in the country, military would often check passengers looking for drugs, and they have dogs of course, if they find you suspicious you may pass a very VERY bad time, and yes I said military, not the police.

There honestly isnt a difference between smoking a cigarette or smoking hookah. You’re still getting the nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide you would get from smoking a cigarette and will still put you at risk of lung cancer.

I disagree with all of the above. Hookah, the way it’s designed is much safer and healthier on your system. The heated coals heat up a mixture of fruit and tobacco (smoke and steam combination) and your inhaling pulls it down thru the tube, thru the water which cleans and cools it, then you draw this cooled cleaned steam/smoke into your lungs. It’s very pleasant and relaxing. If you don’t believe me, get a cigarette filter and pull your shisha smoke thru it. CLEAN. Smell the water in the bottom of the jar. You can smell the fruit and tobacco. ALso, right on the jar of shisha tobacco it says .05 % nicotine. 5/100th of a percent. What are cigarettes? I found a research article that rates each cigarette at .7 or higher per. SO, it’s hard to rate shisha because only the top gets burnt, there is a lot of unused fruit pulp at the bottom of the bowl and the tobacco in shisha is cooked, in a cigarette, it’s burnt away. My bottom line is my own personal history. I just had a chest x ray because I was getting over pneumonia. My doctor said I have the lungs of a healthy non-smoker yet I smoke almost every night. Cigarettes smoke sends me to the hospital. AND I was traveling for almost four months, NEVER smoked, didn’t miss it at all (besides the pleasant social stuff that comes with smoking shisha.)

First start with a little imagination ie. a flower vase. Next use a dremmel (sp.) to drill a hole a little lower than half way down. Next you will want to use a small hose of some sort to plug the hole. At the top of the vase you can easily just use foil and put the bowl on top and poke it thru the foil. Add water and smoke.

GATHER YOUR MATERIALS
The first thing you will need to do is gather everything you need to build your hookah.
One - A good glass vase
You don’t have to use a glass vase, you can use anything that can hold water, but for a better looking and sturdier hookah, I recommend the vase. Make sure you get good, thick glass, otherwise it will be prone to breakage at even the slightest bump. Also make sure that there is enough room on top for two 20 oz. bottle caps and a hose (or hoses).
Two - Plexiglass
Lexan is sturdiest, but unless your hookah has an enormous mouth, any kind of plexi should be strong enough.
Three - Sharpie Marker
Anything that can mark on plastic cover on the plexiglass will do.
Four - Two Coke bottles
Can be any size, as long as they have the same size screw cap as a twenty ounce.
Five - Vinyl Hose
This is for the hose and central stem. You may also use thin PVC pipe for the central stem, but the narrow hourglass design of the vase I used for the demonstration required a flexible stem.
Six - Cutting Device
The easiest to use is, of course, a Dremel tool, but most people don’t have one. If you don’t, any pocketknife will do, though it will increase your build time exponentially.
Seven - Sealant/Adhesive
For the bowl screw-top attachment, you’ll need a good five-minute epoxy to stand up to the heat. For everything else, I recommend a strong adhesive/sealant, such as Goop. Everything can be put together with epoxy, but you CANNOT use Goop to hold the bowl.
TRACE AND CUT THE PLEXIGLASS
First, flip your vase over and trace the mouth of it on your sheet of plexiglass. Be sure to leave the plastic sheeting on each side, doing so will keep the plexi clear and pristine.
Next you need to cut out the newly traced top of your hookah. If you have a Dremel tool, its an easy matter to use the cutting disc to rough it out then shape it with the sanding wheel, but if you don’t have one, it becomes a completely different matter. For those of you who have not dealt with plexiglass, the proper way to cut it is to score one side with knife (rather deeply) then lay it flat on a hard surface, with score facing up and aligned with the edge of the surface. Once you have it where you want it, just hit it sharply with your fist, and it will break right along the score. Of course, this only works with straight lines, so making a circle is a rather time-consuming task. First, make a square around your traced area and cut that out, then keep scoring little corners off until you have a roughed-out piece. (For the smaller pieces, you’ll have to snap them off with a hammer) If you want if nice and smooth, then use a metal file or some low-grit sandpaper to shape it.
TRACE AND CUT BOWL, HOSE, AND FILL HOLES
The next step is to make the holes in your newly cut top for your hose(s), bowl, and stem. Again, leave the plastic sheeting on the plexi to keep is from getting marred. The hole for the stem should be the exact diameter of the stem, the hole for the fill hole should be as close to the diameter of the inside of the 20 ounce cap as you can get. (Its an easier task with a Dremel, because you can trim the hole after the cap is attached) The hole for the hose, however, should be slightly smaller than the hose, so the hose has to compress to fit in and seals with friction. Don’t worry if your hole is a bit too big, there’s other ways to seal it.
Just as with the last step, drilling these holes is a simple matter if you have a Dremel. If you don’t have one, a pocket knife with still suffice. All you have to do is put the point in the center of the hole, then press down and turn the knife back and forth. When you get through to the other side, flip it over and do the same. Keep this up until the hole is the right size. It takes a while, but it works.
CUT SCREWCAP AND ASSEMBLE TOP
This is yet another step that’s far easier with a Dremel tool. If you’ve got one just use the cutting disc to slice the screw top off, then use the sanding wheel to flatten it out and get rid of whatever bits of the side are still left. If you don’t have a Dremel, get your knife again and hack it off as best you can. (The plastic around the tops of bottles is pretty tough, so it’ll take some doing) If you can’t get all the remnants of the side off, whether with a knife or sandpaper, then make the hole for it on your top large enough to accept the sides. The wide part will cover up whatever parts of the plexi aren’t flush with the sides of the cap. Do this for both bottles, you’ll need the other cap later.
Once you have the cap ready and the stem trimmed to length, you can put the top assembly together. Try to keep as much of the plastic sheeting on as you can while still attaching everything directly to the plexi. Goop up the bottom of the cap and stick it over the hole you made for it, then smear a little goop around the inside of the hole for the center stem and push it though, then smear goop around all around the stem on the plexiglass on both sides. (only one side if you’re using vinyl hose) If your hole is tight enough to seal just from friction, then don’t worry about the hose now. If your hole is too big, then find a washer that fits tightly around the hose. Slip it on and get it about a quarter to a half inch up the hose. Take the end of hose without the washer on it and feed it from the bottom of the plexi up through the top. When the washer is about an inch away from the plexiglass, cover the washer with goop and pull the washer flush with the plexi and hold it until its set enough to hold on its own. Once everything is stuck on, hold onto it until the adhesive sets up enough to hold on its own, then you can move on to step 5.
ATTACH TOP AND BOWL SOCKET
Once your top assembly is set enough to hold together on its own, you can attach it to your chamber. First off, make sure you’ve removed all the plastic sheeting from your plexiglass. Run a bead of Goop around the edge of your vase, keeping it thick and leaving no spot untouched while makeing sure that its not so thick it will run down the sides of your chamber when you set the top on. Next, put the top on gently, making sure its as close to flush to the edges as you can get it, becuase the more sliding around you have to do to get it in the proper place, the more goop is going to get all over the underside of your plexi, making your hookah look bad.
Once your top has set up enough for you to let go of it, (this shouldn’t be long at all, becuase most vases have a flat mouth, unlike the one in the photos) get out your second 20 ounce cap. You just need the cap itself, not the threads, for this step. The cap is going to become the place where your bowl screws in. First you need to drill a hole in the cap. Even if you don’t have a Dremel, this will go pretty quick with a knife. If you are using PVC for your central stem, then make the hole as close the same size as the inner diameter of the pipe without getting bigger. If you are using vinyl hose, then make the hole just large enough for the hose to get through. A little friction fitting is nice, but not neccessary, becuase with vinyl hose stems, you will be gluing the cap directly to the plexi. With PVC, you can make the stem rise as far above the top as you want, and becuase of this, the cap will have to attach to the PVC itelf, which has a much smaller surface area. Once you have your hole cut, epoxy it onto the central stem. DO NOT use Goop, it does not hold up well to heat, and the bowl will fall off after you have smoked it a few times.
LEAK TESTING AND COMPLETION
Before starting this step, wait until all adhesive on you hookah is dry and completely set. Once it is, you’ll need to test for leaks. To do this, screw the cap on the fill hole, put your hand over the screw socket for the bowl, then blow on the hose. (if you have more than one hose you’ll have to blow on both of them, or plug one) If no air can go into your hookah and the plexiglass on top bows out a little, then you’ve got a perfect seal. If not, then you’ve got a problem, albeit not a large one. Simply find where the air is coming from, either with your hand or by sound, then throw a little goop on the hole. Be sure to wait for the Goop to dry before testing for a leak again. When Goop isn’t set, its still a liquid, and blowing on your hookah will cause the hole to blow right through the goop. I feel I shouldn’t have to tell you this, but DO NOT smoke you hookah while there is wet Goop on it, or the fumes from it still linger in the chamber. While not a crucial part of the hookah-building process, whenever I seal up a new hookah, I like to fill the chamber with water and watch it bubble. It doesn’t really serve any practical purpose, but I assure you, it WILL make you happy. Once you think its free of leaks and the Goop is dry, its time to test smoke your new hookah.
TEST SMOKE
This is by far the easiest and most enjoyable step. Consider it your reward for working so hard for so long. (especially if you had to use a knife to cut and drill the plexi) Once everything has set up and your chamber no longer reeks of Goop, screw on your bowl and go out and smoke it! If there are any remaining problems you missed, they’ll show up when you’re smoking, and you can fix them. Also, the movement of smoking will stress the joint where the hose meets the top, and if your seal doesn’t hold up, then you know you need to make it stronger. As long as you can’t see through the chamber, and you can blow out clouds of smoke you can’t see through, you did it right.

Depends are you smoking actual tobacco or something herbal (no I don’t mean pot).
It is absolutely illegal for a minor to smoke tobacco (which is what hookah typically is and more than likely is what you are smoking).
In most places you have to be 16 to smoke a non-tobacco hookah… I’m sure in others it’s 18. Honestly this is something you’ll have to dig up yourself in your state or get lucky and find someone who actually knows what they are talking about, and they confirm what they tell you.

Occasionaly when my boyfriend comes home i can smell it, depends on the type of shisha in my opinon, some are stronger than others. I came home yesterday and could tell he had smoked in our room with the windows open and everything not cause of a “smoke” smell but the flavor he was smoking. if he is smoking something fruity like apple more than likely he will smell fruity but nothing too noticable. Also it depends on the coals burning is he the one taking care of them? what kind is he using? is he the one packing the bowl? either way like i said its not too noticable doubt she will smell him

The only thing of a hookah you should put in the dishwasher is the base…and only if it’s unpainted. Otherwise the paint will chip off.
Bowls most of them are unglazed on the inside. Washing them with soap or a dishwasher can cause them to retain some soap. You don’t want to smoke that trust me, it’s disgusting.
Stem won’t get clean…well the outside will. There is just no way to get the water flowing through the inside properly.
I clean my hookah after ever session at most every 3 sessions. My Mya Hookahs break down so I can clean them all in my sink with Dawn dish soap and using the hookah brushes. http://www.hookah-shisha.com/store/pc/vi…
Rinse them out real good and let them air dry never a problem.
If you have an Egyptian style hookah where the stem is one piece, just let is soak in the tub with some dawn and scrub it out with the stem brush no biggie and do the rest in the sink.
With bowls i usually just soak them in plain water for an hour or so. From time to time I will soak them in lemon juice and water if the taste just won’t come out. Or boil them in water on the stove for a couple minutes.

The hookah operates by water filtration and indirect heat. It is used for smoking fruits.
A study in the Journal of Periodontology found that water pipes smokers were five times more likely than non-smokers to show signs of gum disease. People who smoked water pipes had five times the risk of lung cancer as non-smokers.
The water used to filter the chemicals does not work efficiently to remove all the harmful chemicals. One single session (45-minutes appr) of Hookah smoking will result in the smoker breathing in 100 times more smoke than regular smoking.
So, in all it is best if no one opted for hookah.

First always keep the majority of the base water for 3 reasons.
1) It will make the smoke harsh.
2) Cleaning will be a bear.
3) Whatever you put in will get in your hose and pretty much make it rust.

Sounds like they screwed up your coals or they were using crappy cheap coals. I would mark that hookah lounge off your list. I have done that to several. what the post office does if it will not fit into your box because there are several sizes. they have special boxes that they put the item in and put a key in your box then you use the key in the special box. Hey :] So yeah, hookah smoke is really easy to inhale.
Explanation : So, the coals heat up the tobacco in the bowl, the smoke travels down the stem (the long metal part) and into the base (where the water is). The water acts as a cooling agent. So THAT’S why when you inhale it, it’s nice, smooth, and cool. But, try smoking a cig and you’ll be coughing..
But, sometimes the smoke can get a little harsh because the tobacco is burning way bad, so then it’ll irritate your throat a little. Just remove the coals, purge, and check to see if the tobacco is sticking to the aluminum foil (cause that means that the coals are directly burning the shisha…. No Es Bueno).

It’s actually really easy.
First take the Shisha, Hookah Tobacco and break it apart and fluff it up with your fingers.
Slowly add the shisha until it’s just barely over the top of the bowl.
Put hookah foil over the top of the boil and mold the edges down around it. If you don’t have hookah foil, get some, but in the mean time use Regular foil, shiny side down.
Poke holes in the foil a lot all over of in concentric circles. Toothpicks work will but I like corn cob holders to make my holes .
light some quicklights or natural coals broken in pieces and light them and spread them around the top of the bowl for better heat management.
Just smoke and enjoy!

I’ve noticed that a hookah usually doesn’t work as good with more hoses because it allows more smoke to escape due to more pathways, your not goin to get as thick of a smoke,and shish is more likely to burn due to everyone pulling.

So, stay away from cheap hookahs. they’re going to rust on you, not last as long and not smoke as well.

A hookah is an object used to smoke shisha.
It is usually composed of a base, a stem, hoses, and a bowl, to put it really simply.
The base is filled with water, the shisha is but in the bowl, tin foil and charcoal go on the bowl, and the hoses are used to smoke the shisha. It’s a social event.
It isn’t illegal, depending on what you smoke out of it. There is a brand of shisha (the stuff you smoke out of a hookah) that is one hundred percent herbal. That means no tobacco or anything.
Contrary to popular belief, hookahs are not usually used for weed. They can be, and are some of the time, but their primary use is for the social smoking of shisha.
There are hookah bars that cater to those under the age of eighteen, and they can do this because they offer the herbal shisha.
Herbal shisha is a mix of sugar cane leaves, molasses, and flavoring, usually. It probably isn’t too good for you, but it’s much better than tobacco shisha, or anything else you can smoke, really.
However, it’s illegal to own a hookah, as far as I know. They’re categorized under tobacciana. Minors aren’t allowed to own drug/tobacco paraphernalia.

Second, they will inform your parents.
Third, Unless the cop is one of your parents, expect paraphernalia charges (applies only to hookahs IF you are a minor)

dude, you just gotta find out for yourself. its not only the brand and flavor, its how much you can pull. it also depends on if you inhale or not. Some people smoke hookah like a cigar, and dont inhale. i inhale, because i like the loopy feeling you get. if you inhale tho, the smoke isnt as thick, and there wont be as much

First off you are talking about Simplex 1. Guess what statistically speaking according to the CDC 50% of the people over 25 have it. It’s not a big deal. It’s like a bad coal sore, drop some valtrex for 3 days..bam it’s gone.
I have it. How did I get? I drank from a bottle of water when my Dad had an outbreak. Whoops. even though I have it, it doesn’t effect my life. And I end up getting valtrex samples from my doc once a year, no big deal. After 2 years of dating and 3 years of marriage my wife still has not contracted it!
I am not sure how the do it anywhere else but here in Texas it’s state law by the department of health to provide mouth tips and clean the hooks and hoses to all health standards.
This is just like that teenage std report the other day. We polled 800 girls from Chicago…so in America 1 in 4 teenagers have STD s…. they didn’t even pole guys! Let the newspaper spin it and scare you so you will vaccines and drugs you don’t need to cause other problems with your body. Don’t take the news’ word for it. Follow up on what they report.
